Canada is a very warm and friendly place. It is one of the world’s leading study destinations. The country spends more on education than those in the G8. More than 250,000 international students have been hosted by Canada and more recently there has been an influx of overseas students. Depending on the course undergraduate degrees can take up to three or four years to complete and for postgraduate degrees this is one to three years. If you are an international student studying on a course for 2 years or more, after graduation you are eligible for a three-year work permit with no restrictions. Valuable experience can be gained in this period and gives you the opportunity to work in an international setting. If you study for one year, you are eligible for a one-year work permit.

International students must display proficiency in either English or French and this depends on the university you are applying to. Most universities require that you attain a minimum score in a standardised language test. There are several Canadian programmes you can enrol in if your language skills are insufficient.
